This ain’t no bedtime story—it’s the trailer for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, a dark retelling of a beloved childhood tale made possible by the public domain!
Rhys Frake-Waterfield directed the film, which explores what happens to Winnie the Pooh and Piglet when Christopher Robin heads to university. Forced to fend for themselves, the duo quickly become feral.
“Christopher Robin is pulled away from them,” Waterfield explained to Variety. “He’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult… So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”
Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Scott star in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. There’s no official release date for the film just yet, but ITN Studios plans to distribute it sometime later this year.
