Many films have been exploring the horrors of love and Clinger is another comedy-horror that proves that love never, truly dies. We’ve had comedic films about the returning of exes – Burying the Ex, girlfriends rising from the grave – Life After Beth, but also films that tackle these issues a touch nire seriously with Nina Forever. Clinger chooses the former route as the trailer shows the funny side of love after death, when Robert beats his demise and returns to life as a ghost keen to carry on his romance.
Synopsis:
Fern Petersen, a driven high school senior, has her life turned upside down when her overly affectionate boyfriend, Robert Klingher (Vincent Martella), dies in an embarrassing accident. When Robert returns from the dead as a love-sick ghost, he tries to reunite with Fern – only to have his heart broken. As Robert plots to kill Fern so they can be together forever, Fern will have to fight to stay in the world of the living. Clinger is a blood-soaked coming-of-age story about the horrors of first love.
We’ve all had romances that we’d love to forget and imagining the ghostly return of an ex is something truly horrifying. Check out the trailer for Clinger below; it looks to be filled with bloody fun and pitch-perfect dark humour with a touch of 80s nostalgia thrown in for good measure.
Clinger comes from director Michael Steves and stars Vincent Martella, Jennifer Laporte, Julia Aks and Shonna Major. Clinger will be released in the UK on 1st February.
