Writer and director Leigh Whannell has signed a two-year overall deal with Blumhouse. The first-look deal covers film and television projects he writes, directs, or produces.
Whannell is perhaps best known for writing the first three instalments in the Saw franchise. He also penned Dead Silence and all four films in the Insidious franchise, making his directorial debut with Insidious: Chapter 3 before creating the wildly entertaining Upgrade. His fresh take on Universal’s The Invisible Man hit theatres last week, garnering strong box office results and immediate critical acclaim for its nerve-wracking portrayal of gaslighting and trauma.
