A new clip has been released from Babak Anvari’s Under The Shadow and it’s master class in creating psychological tension, as well as literal unease through its impressive camera work. The way the camera holds the position of the mother as she sits up is subtly startling and does well to emphasise the film’s desire to create a foreboding and uneasy atmosphere.
Synopsis:
As a mother and daughter struggle to cope with the terrors of the post-revolution, war torn Tehran of the 80s, a mysterious evil begins to haunt their home.
Under The Shadow will premiere during next year’s Sundance Film Festival in January where it will screen in the Midnight section, so keep your eyes peeled for early reactions. For now, enjoy the clip below.
Under The Shadow stars Narges Rashidi, Avin Manshadi and Bobby Naderi.
