You better watch out, you better not cry—because Santa Claus is coming back to town. That’s right: a sequel to the riotously fun action-thriller Violent Night is already in the works!
Director Tommy Wikola, who previously helmed the Dead Snow films, recently told The Wrap that they’re “getting everything in order” for Violent Night 2 and that Pat Casey and Josh Miller will return to write the script. “We have some ideas,” he told the outlet, “me and Pat and Josh and the producers, we’ve been talking about where we want to take it and what we want to see.”
Released in 2022, Violent Night starred Stranger Things’ David Harbour as a disillusioned Santa Claus who becomes embroiled in a deadly hostage situation in a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve. John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo, Alex Haskell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson, and Cam Gigandet also starred.
“There’s stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves,” Wirkola added. “But story-wise I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope, but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one.”
Will we have another Violent Night in time for Christmas 2023? We’d better stay on Santa’s Nice List, just in case.
