David Farr (Hanna) is developing a new eight-part series adaptation of John Wyndham’s The Midwich Cuckoos for Sky.
The 1957 novel, which was the inspiration behind both Wolf Rilla’s classic 1960 film Village of the damned and John Carpenter’s 1995 remake of the same name, centres around the fictional English village of Midwich. After the local women become pregnant by parasitic aliens, the town is terrorised by a group of blonde-haired, glowing-eyed, telepathic children.
The series is housed at Route 24, which is backed by ITV Studios and run by producer Marc Samuelson, and Snowed-In Productions, the sister company of Bronte Film and Television. We’ll bring you updates about the adaptation as we hear them.
