Shout! Factory have posted a trailer for their new slasher Jackals, ahead of putting the film in selected cinemas and On Demand on September 1st.
Blade’s Stephen Dorff – who will be taking on Leatherface in the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel – stars in the ‘80s-set shocker, in which a family come under siege from crazed cult members. Dorff plays a cult deprogrammer, hired by the estranged family to retrieve their teenage son from the clutches of a murderous cult. However, they soon find themselves under attack as the cult members surround their cabin, demanding the boy back.
Horror remake regular Johnathon Schaech (Prom Night, Quarantine, Day of the Dead), Silent Hill’s Deborah Kara Unger, True Blood’s Chelsea Ricketts and Nick Roux co-star in Jackals, which was directed by Saw VI/Saw 3D: The Final Chapter helmer Kevin Greutert. Previously known as Sacrilege, Jackals originally had another Saw alumnus at the helm, in the form of Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II-IV, as well as last year’s Abattoir. He even directed a market trailer for it back in 2013, before the project moved into the Greutert’s hands.
