UPDATE: THE STAND ADAPTATION RELEASING LATE 2020

Posted on: January 17th, 2020

During the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, CBS All Access revealed that its 10-episode adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand is expected to release in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone (The New Mutants), the series will include a brand new ending contributed by King himself. The novel, which was first published in 1978, with an unabridged edition following in 1990, documents the fate of the few survivors of a deadly super-flu as they become embroiled in a battle between good and evil.

Alexander Skarsgård will play Randall Flagg, a demonic figure with supernatural powers. He’ll square off against Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail, a 108-year-old woman who draws many of the survivors to her through her dreams. James Marden, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard, Brad William Henke, Katherine McNamara, Daniel Sunjata, Owen Teague, Nat Wolff, and Odessa Young also star.
