Following the success of Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man, Universal is in the process of making a whole slate of standalone monster movies, from Paul Feig’s Dark Army to Dexter Fletcher’s Renfield. Next up, the studio is reviving another of its classic properties, the Wolfman—and Ryan Gosling (Drive) is attached to star.
Wolfman is based on a pitch from Gosling, with Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo (who both wrote for Orange Is the New Black) writing the script. While the project hasn’t found a director just yet, Cory Finley (Thoroughbreds) is reportedly being considered.
The last time Universal tackled this material was in 2010 with Joe Johnston’s The Wolfman. Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, and Emily Blunt starred.
