Insidious: Chapter 3 was released last year and was another box office smash for Universal’s horror franchise. After the second film’s dip in quality, it was great to see Insidious return to form and offer another intensely scary feature with a strong story at its centre. The third film restored our faith in the franchise and has definitely heightened our excitement for the fourth instalment.
Universal has announced that Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan) will be the director of Insidious 4 with Leigh Whanell writing the script and Jason Blum, Oren Peli and James Wan as the film’s producers. Lin Shaye will also be returning to reprise her role as Elise.
The Taking of Deborah Logan is a fantastic horror film that blends ideas surrounding mental illness with traditional supernatural horror tropes. I was extremely surprised by its quality and would definitely recommend you check it out on Netflix if you live in Ireland, Great Britain or Canada. There are some great scares in there and the story itself is refreshingly heart-felt in parts. This blend of emotive storytelling and well-executed frights are a necessity to the Insidious franchise, so we are delighted to see Adam Robitel at the helm of the next film.
