With Underworld 5 due for release later this year, there are now talks surrounding a television adaptation of the supernatural horror franchise. Len Wiseman’s original Underworld from 2003 grossed a phenomenal amount at the box office and has since spawned 3 – mostly average – sequels. The stories may be getting weaker, but the fans are no less devoted to Kate Beckinsale’s gun-wielding Lycan killer.
When speaking during an interview with Collider, Len Wiseman admitted, “Yes, there’s been a lot of conversations and even development on what that series would be. It’s really appropriate for television, in terms of how those characters can really tie in, but also become something new. It’s really an attractive space. I don’t want to put a date on it because then that’s going to be printed and it might not happen in that timeframe, but it is a thought.”
From reboot to sequel and now to television, the Underworld universe appears to constantly be evolving. We’re not complaining, because we love Underworld – even the sequels! If there were to be a TV series of Underworld, it would probably not star Kate Beckinsale in the lead role, so who would you cast as Seline?
