Brad Anderson, known to horror fans for the chilling Session 9, is the lead director on Netflix’s upcoming series Clickbait—and the trailer may be deadly to watch…
An eight-episode limited series told from revolving points of view, Clickbait is described as a “compelling, high-stakes thriller that explores the ways in which our most dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are fuelled in the age of social media, revealing the ever-widening fractures we find between our virtual and real-life personas.” In the series, Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier) is a loving father, husband, and brother who one day mysteriously disappears. A video appears on the internet of the badly beaten Nick holding a card that says “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I die”.
Is this a threat, a confession, or both? As Nick’s sister (Zoe Kazan) and wife (Betty Gabriel) rush to find and save him, they uncover a side of him they didn’t know existed.
Tony Ayres created, executive produced, and served as showrunner on Clickbait, which hits Netflix on August 25th. Click play on the trailer below to see if it lives up to its name!
