One of the biggest splashes on the horror festival circuit in 2017 was made by Tyler MacIntyre’s digital age kill-spree horror-comedy Tragedy Girls. If you didn’t manage to catch it however, you don’t have long to wait, because the film is released on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on February 2nd.
The film, which sees two teenage besties looking to become internet stars by embarking on a murderous rampage, was directed by MacIntyre, who also co-wrote with Chris Lee Hill. It stars X-Men: Apocalypse’s Alexandra Shipp and Deadpool’s Brianna Hildebrand as BFFs Sadie and McKayla, with The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson, comedy regular Craig Robinson (This is the End, Pineapple Express), Kevin Durand (The Strain, Resident Evil: Retribution) and Sons of Anarchy’s Timothy V. Murphy co-starring.
Synopsis:
Best friends Sadie and McKayla are on a mission to boost their social media fandom as amateur crime reporters hot on the trail of a deranged local serial killer. After they manage to capture the killer and secretly hold him hostage, they realize the best way to up get scoops on future victims would be to, you know, murder people themselves. As the @TragedyGirls become an overnight sensation and panic grips their small town, can their friendship survive the strain of national stardom? Will they get caught? Will their accounts get verified?
