In what is without doubt the biggest Final Destination news we’ve had for some time; it has been confirmed that Tony Todd will return to the series!
In one of his most iconic roles beyond horror villain Candyman, Todd has appeared in the first, second and fifth instalments of the Final Destination series as mortician William Bloodworth. Now it has been confirmed Bloodworth will make another ominous appearance in the upcoming Final Destination 6.
Currently stalled due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike in Hollywood, producer Craig Perry confirmed last month that the project is “ready to go” following the resolution of the strike action.
Thought to be another prequel, many rumours continue to surround the movie, but very little has been confirmed. For months it’s been reported that the story will revolve around first responders and has the working title of Final Destination: Bloodlines.
However, we currently know only the slightest bits of tantalizing information for sure, and those certainly sound exciting. One, that Tony Todd will return, and two, that there will be a “gruesome” death sequence in a body modification parlour.
We’re delighted this long-dormant franchise is beginning to gain steam once again and hope the strikes resolve soon to let death run amok, but first the Hollywood higher-ups must do what’s right.
Currently, Final Destination 6 is believed to be a direct-to-streaming sequel, to debut on Paramount+. However, with all the interest and fan clamour, this could change. We’ll keep our ear to the ground for any further updates, and are sure we speak everyone when we say, welcome back, Tony!
