Tom Sizemore has been dropped as the lead in upcoming horror thriller The Door, following allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to an incident in 2003.
Global Genesis Group, the production company behind the film, have said in a statement that the film will still be moving forward without Sizemore, who’s role will be recast. The allegations against the actor took place on the set of 2003’s Born Killers, when the actor was removed after allegedly groping an 11-year-old actress.
The Door, as detailed in a ReleaseWire press release, is “…a psychological thriller in the vein of INSIDIOUS. In the late ’50s, Dr. Lazarus Saint was conducting horrific experiments until a suspicious house fire killed Dr. Saint and his young son Vincent. In present day, Scott and Rebecca Johnson move into the old Saint house. When people who visit the house start dying, Rebecca discovers the ghost of Vincent who warns her that Scott is becoming the dead Lazarus. Rebecca realizes she is doomed unless she can stop the reborn Lazarus.”
Sizemore appears in more than 25 further features in various stages of production, including David Prindle’s indie horror Made Vicious, for which he has completed filming on his scenes. The film’s producers said in a statement that they are “…currently assessing their options.”
