Despite its rocky start, Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures seem well on their way to bringing us Scream 7 in 2025. However, reliable sources are telling us the story necessitates moving the story forward to 2028.

That’s right, Scream 7 will leap forward 5 years following the events of 2023’s Scream VI.

For what purpose, we hear you ask? A reliable source tells us this is being done for two key reasons. First and foremost, the filmmakers are seeking to make Sidney Prescott’s teenage daughter a “central” character.

According to series lore, Sidney’s eldest child was born in 2012, making her just 11 during the events of Scream VI. Jumping forward 5 years makes the character almost 17, making her the perfect age to head the newest group of youngsters we’ve been hearing about.

Secondly, moving the timeline forward is a further attempt by the creators to distance Scream 7 from the events of the previous two films. It’s become apparent that none of the “core four” cast members will return following the firing of Melissa Barrera, and the seventh entry will indeed be a “fresh start.”

Our source continues that Scream 7 is being eyed as the beginning of a new trilogy, and will centre on the Prescott-Kincaid family as they attempt to keep a low profile. However, someone unwittingly divulges their location, opening the door for a new spate of Ghostface killings.

So, things seem to be moving rather smoothly for Scream 7 at last! According to Neve Campbell and her convention agent Sean Clark, the project is eyeing a Fall 2024 shoot.

Hopefully we’ll have some official cast announcements soon.
