After taking the horror community by storm with his 2021 slasher X, fans rejoiced when Ti West announced a prequel had already been filmed and would release the following year.
Following the critical acclaim garnered by 2022’s Pearl, fans were hungry for more and West delivered with the surprise announcement following Pearl that a third film would soon follow.
MaXXXine is set to bring Mia Goth’s titular character to Los Angeles and see her chasing fame following her survival of the brutal X massacre. Little is known about the third instalment’s plot, but we do know it will be set in the early 80s and be a nod to the brutal shockers one could rent on VHS in the early days of video rental.
Last week the news landed that MaXXXine will begin filming April 4th in and around Los Angeles. Besides the returning Mia Goth and the creative team behind the camera, it is reported that both Kevin Bacon and Helena Bonham-Carter are “interested” in certain roles.
With no release date and plot details being kept tightly under wraps, this is definitely one to watch. Fans are eager to see Goth continue her reign as a modern scream queen and are hungry for more of West’s signature gritty gore.
