Ti West’s eagerly anticipated MaxXxine, the third and final entry in his X slasher trilogy, has started filming.
Released to Instagram and Twitter by A24, a number plate baring the film’s title confirms the film will take place in California. Furthermore, the image may hint at a few unconfirmed details. The number 85 can be seen in the upper right corner, perhaps giving us a time period for the movie. What’s most interesting is the inclusion of “OCT” in the upper left corner, perhaps hinting at a release date. Whether that’s October of 2023 or later is still unconfirmed.
Set pictures published within the last week reveal star Mia Goth as the newest incarnation of Maxine Minx. Sporting a long blonde wig and a denim playsuit, the actress looked much more reserved than the character’s previous turn in 2022’s X. Does this mean Maxine has broken free of the adult entertainment business and is now a legitimate actress?
It was announced last week that an ensemble of cast members will be joining Goth in this final chapter, among them genre veteran Kevin Bacon and pop star Halsey.
MaxXxine will follow Goth’s character as she continues to chase stardom in the seedy world of 1980s Los Angeles. West has described the third as a tribute to the early days of home video.
