One of the most intriguing – and most anticipated – Stephen King-inspired projects on the horizon is J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Hulu series Castle Rock, which takes place in the titular town featured in a number of King’s stories. We recently heard that the premiere date was sooner than expected, with Hulu beginning the festivities on July 25th. This week brought the reveal that the date will host not just the pilot episode, but the first THREE episodes of the show, with the following episodes to drop weekly.
The series promises an original story featuring a number of familiar settings, and with several familiar characters playing peripheral roles but beyond that, not a lot is known about where the story will take us.
The cast includes a few faces previously seen in adaptations of King’s work, albeit playing different characters. Bill Skarsgård will play an inmate at Shawshank Prison for example, while Sissy Spacek and It’s Chosen Jacobs also star, with Melanie Lynskey, Jane Levy, Terry O’Quinn, Scott Glenn and Moonlight’s André Holland.
