One of our most anticipated films of 2016 is Robert Eggers’ directorial debut The Witch and we have a new trailer to share with you. The film has been making considerable waves since its screening at Sundance, which saw Eggers pick up the award for Best Director. Furthermore, Studio 8 has chosen him to helm a currently untitled remake of German Expressionist classic Nosferatu. If he can mimic the level of mounting tension and dread that fills this trailer for The Witch, then we’re more than happy to see him tackle a new Nosferatu.
Synopsis:
Set in New England circa 1630, ‘The Witch’ follows a farmer who get cast out of his colonial plantation and is forced to move his family to a remote plot of land on the edge of an ominous forest rumoured to be controlled by witches.
Check out the chilling trailer below which features an unbelievably scary goat and a significant amount of suspense which is almost too hard to handle –almost.
The Witch stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie and Harvey Scrimshaw and will be released in the USA on 19th February. The UK has a few more weeks to wait as it hits that side of the pond on 11th March.
