After its shocking premiere in Toronto last year, Raw has fast become one of the most talked about films of the year and it hasn’t even been released yet! We were lucky to catch the film at the London Film Festival and have to agree with the general consensus. It really is a brilliant, brutal and surprisingly comedic exploration of cannibalism, but also covers themes surrounding adolescence and identity, becoming a bold and unforgettable debut from the French director Julia Ducournau.
A whole new batch of images have been released for Raw and they show blood, lots of blood. The film’s leading lady Justine (Garance Marillier) learns the hard way that university life can be, er, quite demanding. To say the least. Check out the new imagery below.
Synopsis:
Garance Marillier portrays the teenaged Justine, who commences her studies at veterinary school to follow in her family members’ footsteps. Raised as a vegetarian, Justine is pressured at school to try meat for the first time. Once she does, she plumbs both the depths of her own soul and tests the limits of her darkest cravings.
