There’s a Sinister Plan in this Trailer for Cherry Tree

Posted on: December 27th, 2015

Cherry Tree PosterWitches and babies and death, oh my! This new trailer for Cherry Tree unveils the sinister plan of Sissy Young, who persuades a young woman called Faith to have a baby in exchange for saving her father’s life. As with all things, if it’s sounds too good to be true, it probably is. It’s a shame that this didn’t cross Faith’s mind, because she’s unwittingly got herself tangled up in a centuries-old Witches coven that has bad intentions.

Synopsis:
Faith’s world is turned upside down after she finds out that her beloved father is dying. When the mysteriously alluring Sissy Young becomes her new hockey coach, Faith has no idea that Sissy is the head of a witches’ coven that has resided in her home town of Orchard for centuries.  Using the fruit of an ancient cherry tree in a bloody ritual, the witches can bring the dead and dying back to life, and when Sissy offers to cure Faith’s father, she lures the young woman into a dangerous deal that will leave her fighting for her life.

Cherry Tree comes from director David Keating, who who behind the spooky Hammer Horror Wake Wood from 2010. Much like this, Wake Wood toyed with the ideas of life and death and explored what could happen if you brought your child back from the dead. Spoiler alert; it wasn’t good. The film, however, was great so expectations are high for this one.

Check out the trailer for Cherry Tree below and note the stylish visuals and beautifully grisly imagery. It looks wonderfully dark and entertaining, and there’s plenty of room for a modern tale about witches in the horror genre.

Cherry Tree will be receiving a limited theatrical and VOD release on 8th January 2016.
