I do not have a phobia of clowns, but this trailer for the Indonesian horror Badoet is very creepy. Clowns are perfect assets for horror films, because their happiness is beyond unnatural and can easily crossover in to the realms of the horrific, just as this trailer proves. It’s unclear what is exactly happening and what the story will be exactly – there is a lack of dialogue, but there’s creepy action involving a hammer, balloon and – god forbid – a little dog. It’s perfect montage of fearful images against a backdrop of tense music which builds wonderfully, quickening the pace and heightening the frights.
