THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY DROPS TEASER

Posted on: December 1st, 2022

The core series may have come to an end, but the world of The Walking Dead is alive (or undead) and well. The Walking Dead: Dead City, one of the many spinoff projects currently in the works, is slated to release in April 2023—and the first teaser transports us to a zombie-invested New York City!

The six-episode series will focus on the characters of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who have had quite the tumultuous relationship over the years. Negan, of course, brutally murdered Maggie’s husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun), with his barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat in one of The Walking Dead’s most shocking moments.

Dead City will see the pair “travelling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”

Eli Jorné, who served as a writer and producer on The Walking Dead, is the showrunner on Dead City.

“Eli has created a chaotic, beautiful, grimy madhouse of the dead for Negan, Maggie, and fans of the show eager to discover an unseen and insane world of the TWD Universe,” said franchise architect Scott Gimple in a recent statement. “Lauren and Jeffrey have always been fantastic collaborators and now, we bring that collaboration to the next level with a series that will take these characters to their limits with the world—and each other. All of us are thrilled to take you on an all new, all different TWD epic for the ages.”
