It hasn’t been looking good for The Crow remake for some time, and now it is being reported that the film has been suspended. After months of preparation at Cardiff’s Pinewood Studios, the crew have now vacated the premises. Relativity Media – the film’s backer – have been struggling financially; staff members have been laid off and the studio has recently filed for bankruptcy, but they are still keen to move forward with the project. So, it’s not completely dead in the water. Not yet, anyway.
The Crow remake itself has not had the best of luck. Jack Huston was on-board to play Eric Draven, but left the project in June. They are yet to replace him, but Andrea Riseborough is reportedly set to play Top Dollar. This is an interesting decision, but it can’t be denied that Michael Wincott was a fantastic villain in the 1994 original, so she has a lot to live up to.
Who knows when this remake will pick up again, but I am intrigued to see how this all ends.
