“There’s something wrong with the school…”
To celebrate being just one month away from their latest instalment, The Conjuring Universe folks decided to treat us to a brand-new teaser on Twitter on August 8th.
In the short clip we get a touch more dialogue and a better look at the eerie boarding school setting than previously offered in the theatrical trailer.
We are introduced to a character named Sophie, who seems the most tuned in to the entity that lurks the halls. The young girl warns that something is very wrong, having witnessed sightings of a demonic nun.
“This thing has come back for me…” Taissa Farmiga’s Sister Irene laments as we see her arrive for another confrontation. Jonas Bloquet’s Frenchie can also be seen, his face contorting into a deformed grimace and an upside-down cross glimpsed on the back of his neck. Any viewer of the first and second Conjuring films knows things do not end well for Frenchie, and it’s going to be interesting to learn just how that came to pass.
Ending with Bonnie Aaron’s Valak leaping towards Sister Irene from a magazine stand, the teaser crams a lot into 45 seconds. We are promised atmosphere by the bucket load, multiple fearsome entities, and some chilling levitation that every good demonic entity must flex!
Despite a lengthy (and some say troublesome) production period, Michael Chaves sequel is finally about to cross the finish line, and looks very promising.
The Nun II will release on September 8th 2023 via Warner Bros Pictures and you can check out the short teaser below:
