Given that the movie’s release date is over two years away, we weren’t expecting a filming update on Radio Silence’s The Mummy sequel so soon.
However, it’s been a hot topic as the directing duo make the rounds promoting Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
After dropping various nuggets throughout their promo tour, Radio Silence has finally opened up about when work is expected to begin on The Mummy 4. We’re pleased to say, it’s much sooner than we expected!
Tyler Gillett tells an official source:
“We’re supposed to start prep in May, and hopefully shooting starts in August.”
Gillett’s confirmation comes soon after Radio Silence also confirmed that their Mummy sequel aims to focus on practical effects. This was music to the ears of fans, as despite the adoration for The Mummy movies, their poorly rendered CGI has been a sticking point.
The as-yet-untitled Mummy sequel will see the return of actors Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell. The iconic duo has not been seen together on-screen since 2001’s The Mummy Returns, as Weisz opted not to return for 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Plot details on the newest instalment are remaining closely guarded, but we do know Orphan: First Kill scribe David Coggeshall has penned the script.
Given that The Mummy series has already garnered over $1 billion worldwide, we’re hoping this one only adds to the success.
Radio Silence’s The Mummy sequel will hit screens on May 19th 2028.
