HBO’s live-action series adaptation of The Last of Us has cast its leads. Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) will star as Ellie, the teenage girl who may hold the key to a cure for a deadly pandemic, while Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) will star as Joel, the man tasked with smuggling her out of an oppressive quarantine zone.
The series is of course based on Naughty Dog’s hit horror game, which sees Joel and Ellie embarking on a brutal and heartbreaking journey across the U.S., relying on each other for survival. Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) is developing the series for HBO and will co-write alongside Neil Druckmann, the creator of the original game. The pilot will be directed by Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole).
