HBO’s series adaptation of The Last of Us is currently filming, and we’ve got more casting news to share with you!
Deadline reports that Storm Reid (The Invisible Man, A Wrinkle in Time) will guest star as Riley Abel, “an orphaned girl growing up in post-apocalyptic Boston. In The Last of Us: Left Behind, a DLC to the original video game, Riley (originally voiced by Yaani King) accompanies and survives with best friend Ellie before she meets Joel.”
The Last of Us takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival. Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett, Con O’Neil, and Nico Parker also star.
Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) is developing The Last of Us for HBO and will write and executive produce the series alongside Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann. Directors include Kantemier Balagov, Jasmila Žbanić, and Ali Abbasi.
