Craig Mazin’s small-screen adaptation of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us is ready to start shooting this summer! Production on the HBO series will begin in Calgary on July 5 and is slated to wrap on June 8, 2022.
The Last of Us will take place 20 years after modern civilisation has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. But what starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Neil Druckmann, the game’s creator and writer, is on board to co-write and produce the series, the pilot episode of which will be directed by Kantemir Balagov. Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) will play Ellie, starring opposite Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) as Joel.
