“THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER” REVEALS A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES AHEAD OF RELEASE

Posted on: October 1st, 2023

We’re ever-so close to The Exorcist: Believer’s October 6th release date!

To tide us over for that short little while, Blumhouse and Universal decided it was the perfect time to release The Exorcist: Believer: A Look Inside. In the short featurette we not only get a lot of new footage, but we also hear from our cast and director David Gordon Green.

Of the film, Green had the following to say:
“An Exorcist movie just creeps under your skin and gets you… (Leslie Odom Jr’s character) Victor has put church and faith behind him, the other family, they have faith, they have community. Their families are in that sense opposites. The film is dealing with the vulnerability of parenthood when a child is dealing with possession.”

In some brief clips that will no doubt excite fans, we also get to hear from Ellen Burstyn, who is reprising her role as Chris MacNeil for the first time in fifty years!

“Playing a character that I created fifty years ago… I thought, “she’s had fifty years of living, who has she become?” Burstyn begins. “It’s a terrifying thought that you can be taken over by a force that’s inside. There have been possessions throughout history, it’s not just in one location or one culture or one religion; it’s universal.”

Of working with Burstyn and having her return, co-star Leslie Odom Jr. added that Burstyn “blessed the project,” whilst Green simply teased “Chris MacNeil is going to have her first confrontation with a demon in many years.”

The Exorcist: Believer serves as a direct sequel to William Friedkin’s 1973 original and will release to theatres October 9th 2023. Tickets are now available for pre-order, and a sequel, The Exorcist: Deceiver is set to follow April 25th 2025.
