Blumhouse and Universal continue their promotional campaign for the upcoming legacy sequel The Exorcist: Believer with the release of a brand-new theatrical poster.
Previously giving us a plethora of eye-catching teaser art, they have chosen a more reserved take for the final theatrical poster. Reserved as it may be, the image highlights what will likely be one of the movie’s stand-out scenes, as we see a little girl glare at the camera from a church setting. If you saw the trailer, you no doubt got a good scare seeing the possessed and bloodied Catherine crash Sunday communion as she screeched uncontrollably at the ritual.
It is just as this poster lands that we also learn of another test screening having taken place for the film. When previously tested, the David Gordon Green directed flick had received mixed results, with its length being a primary complaint. So, has anything changed?
Sources tell us that the movie still has some pacing issues, but that it has vastly improved. The performances given by all, particularly our two possessed leads, have been singled out for praise, and Believer allegedly contains a decent jump scare or two along with some tantalizing mystery elements to the story.
It all sounds like it’s shaping up to be quite the fun ride, and with the positive reception given to the movie’s first trailer, The Exorcist: Believer is expected to do quite well.
The movie will see the return of original Exorcist star Ellen Burstyn alongside Leslie Odom Jr. and Jennifer Nettles. What’s still unconfirmed is if actress Linda Blair is set to reprise her role of Regan MacNeil… However, we’ve heard it just might be true.
The Exorcist: Believer will release on October 13th 2023, and will hopefully make a few heads spin.
