Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) has been cast in Hulu and 20th Century Studios’ upcoming adaptation of “The Boogeyman,” a short story by Stephen King that was featured in his 1978 collection Night Shift.
Rob Savage (Host) is directing the adaptation, which will also star Chris Messina (Birds of Prey). Deadline notes that “Mark Heyman has been writing the script which Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place) and Akela Cooper (Malignant) wrote the original drafts.”
The Boogeyman will follow a teenage girl and her little brother who, still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late. Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen are producing.
