Led by an all-Black cast, horror-comedy The Blackening takes aim at the slasher convention of having the Black character die first—with the trailer pointing out that “they can’t all die first.”
Directed by Tim Story (Ride Along) and co-written by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip) and Dewayne Perkins (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), The Blackening sees a group of Black friends reuniting for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer.
Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realise this ain’t no motherf****** game.
Antoinette Robertson (Dear White People), Dewayne Perkins (The Upshaws), Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf), Grace Byers (Empire), X Mayo (The Farewell), Melvin Gregg (Snowfall), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Yvonne Orji (Insecure), and Jay Pharoah (Unsane) star in The Blackening. Catch the film in theatres from June 16th!
