We’ll have to wait a little longer to see director Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone! The film has been bumped out of its February 4th release slot and will now hit theatres on June 24th, 2022.
An adaptation of the Joe Hill short story of the same name, The Black Phone follows Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.
The Black Phone stars Ethan Hawke (Sinister), James Ransone (It: Chapter 2), Jeremy Davies (Hannibal), Mason Thames, and Madeleine McGraw. Derrickson wrote the script for the film alongside his frequent collaborator, C. Robert Cargill.
