We learned recently that Sinister director Scott Derrickson and frequent collaborator Robert Cargill, with whom Derrickson co-wrote the film, will be teaming up once again for an adaptation of the Joe Hill short story The Black Phone. Well, you can’t have a Sinister reunion without Ethan Hawke, so he’s signed on to star!
Hawke joins the previously announced Jeremy Davies (Hannibal), Mason Thames (For All Mankind), and Madeleine McGraw (Outcast). According to Cargill, the plot will centre around: “A kidnapped kid. A creepy, soundproofed basement. An ancient, disconnected phone. Then, when night falls, the phone rings.”
Derrickson, Cargill, and Jason Blum are producing The Black Phone, which will be executive produced by Hill. Universal and Blumhouse will present the Crooked Highway Productions.
