The Best Horror Games 2021: The Scariest Games to Play on Console and PC

Posted on: June 29th, 2021

Fear is a powerful emotion and we usually experience it in unpleasant situations such as losing at trusted casinos in Canada or walking home in the dark. However, fear has also been used to entertain film lovers and gamers, and what makes it so enticing is that there are no negative consequences attached to it.

Video games have come a long way since the days of Dangerous Dave and Quake 1, as graphics have evolved to a point of near realism. This can also be seen with online casino slots, as games have been developed with better framerates and 3D graphics.

Here we’ll be discussing the best horror games for 2021 (so far). While you won’t find these at the best online Canadian casinos, you will find reviews of these games in magazines and on YouTube. We’ve spoken to Kevin Cochran (see profile) and he’s provided us with some insight on what can be expected.

Video Games
Why do we play video games? The answer is simple, it allows us to escape from the trials of everyday life. There are plenty of categories available on a range of platforms from online casinos to high-end gaming PCs.

Video games provide entertainment on a level that films can’t and this is why we play them.

Little Nightmares II – PC, Xbox One, Google Stadia, PS4, Nintendo Switch
This is a game that becomes more disturbing the longer you play, as it features various elements such as abduction, cannibalism, and a dystopian society. You control a character named Mono, and you attempt to make your way through various platformed levels in Pale City.

These levels feature a range of puzzles and enemies that will attempt to kill you. This is a game that will get your heart racing as its strange design and characters are haunting.

Unholy – PC
Take control of Saidah, one of the last humans left in Last City. This game takes place in a dystopian society that has humans at the bottom of the social ladder, whereas grotesque creatures reign supreme. The plot revolves around Saidah seeking clues regarding the abduction of her daughter.

The reason that this game is so scary is due to the lack of a true combat system, which means that you’ll need to be smart and remain in the shadows and go as far as to impersonate other creatures.

Resident Evil: Village – PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
Ethan Baker is back with another Resident Evil instalment and this has been one of the most anticipated games of the year. After the last game, the Baker family lives in peace until Chris Redfield bursts on the scene and leaves Ethan’s life in ruins after taking his daughter.

Here you’ll need to circumnavigate a mysterious village that’s oddly reminiscent of the village in Dark Souls 3. However, you’ll need to find Chris and your daughter while going toe-to-toe with new monsters and powerful enemies that take pleasure in hunting you down.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human – PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
Dying Light is one of the more unique horror games due to the various gameplay mechanics such as scavenging and parkour. The sequel of the first game takes place in the same universe, which means that many of the same zombies will make an appearance.

In this instalment, you’ll control Aiden Caldwell as he navigates The City, which is the primary center of humanity after the world has been overrun by the undead. You’ll need to make choices and partake in various quests throughout the game.

If it’s anything like the first game you’ll be in for a treat, as this is one of the only games where the enemy’s behaviour changes once night falls.

Scorn – PC, Xbox Series X
Scorn is one of the most unique survival-horror titles as you’ll control a humanoid figure that’s lost in a world that’s essentially a nightmare. This place is filled with various creatures that wander this techno-organic structure that’s made of bone, steel, and flesh.

Your objective is simple, navigate this brutal world in search of answers that can explain the reason for the existence of this world. If you’re a fan of Doom 3, then this will be right up your alley.

Returnal – PS5
If you’re a fan of games such as Quake 4 and Doom Eternal, then Returnal is what you’d love. This game takes place on a planet where your character is trapped in a time loop looking for a way to escape. This third-person shooter will switch things up each time you die, so you won’t respawn in the same place.

Furthermore, with each death, your character will go a bit more insane until she diminishes to nothing. This game features a unique concept, disgusting enemies, and plenty of scares.
