“THANKSGIVING 2:” ORIGINAL STARS HOPEFUL FOR RETURN

Posted on: February 10th, 2024

It’s been a few weeks now since we reported the delightful news that a sequel to Eli Roth’s slasher Thanksgiving had been green-lit.

With both Roth and screenwriter Jeff Rendell announcing their intentions to “take a year off” and focus on the script, we expected very little in terms of updates until at least late 2024.

However, two of the movie’s stars recently spoke of their hopes to return in the sequel, giving us our first hint at what the film may entail.

Actress Nell Verlaque spoke of her wish to return as final girl Jessica Wright, as well as offering insights into what she and Roth have discussed.

“I think that it’ll be a continuation of where we last saw [Jess]. So, we’ll see. But right now, I think [she’ll be back]. When I’ve spoken to Eli about what he wants to do, I think he wants to flesh out the characters a lot – you know, these are traumatic events that happen to these people. And I think the reason the first one worked so well is [because] the relationships between everyone were very strong and you understood all of that.”

Similarly, Suits star Rick Hoffmann sounded quite positive he’d return as Jessica’s father Thomas Wright, stating:
“Based on what I’m told, I’m involved – I don’t want to give anything away, but based on what I’m told by the director, it’s gonna be an interesting experience for sure.”

Tantalising hints, indeed!

Currently, Thanksgiving 2 is set to carve into the holiday merriment of 2025 courtesy of Tri-Star Pictures and Spyglass Media Group.

If you can’t wait that long, Roth’s blood-soaked original is out on blu-ray, DVD, and digital now.
