It’s been a long time coming, but Gun Interactive’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game finally has a release date, and it couldn’t be any more fitting.
In a loving tribute to the first words spoken on screen in Tobe Hooper’s classic slasher, the game will release on August 18th 2023. That marks exactly fifty years to the day named in John Larroquette’s narration.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game will follow a similar pattern to Gun Interactive’s wildly successful Friday the 13th: The Game in that it will feature both single-player and multiplayer campaigns. Just as the player had to escape Camp Crystal Lake alive, here they must dodge the clutches of the demented Sawyer clan.
A plethora of iconic locations have been painstakingly recreated for the game and it will no doubt thrill fans of the franchise to be able to navigate their favourite world and be chased by a legendary killer.
Featuring motion-capture work from Kane Hodder, the game not only features Leatherface, but exact recreations of the entire Sawyer clan. They’re all here folks, The Hitchhiker, The Cook and even Grandpa.
Word is abound that if the game is as successful as Gun Interactive anticipates, more locations from throughout the franchise will be added, as well as multiple skins to cover Leatherface’s changing look over the years.
Although the release date is still someway off, it is hoped by Gun Interactive and horror gamers alike that Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game is here for good and doesn’t run in to any pesky legal issues that spelled the end for Friday the 13th.
That’s August 18th, folks… Will you get out alive?
