Terrifier 3 got some promising updates this past week, following the flurry of positive press created by the recent release of a teaser trailer and poster a few weeks ago.
The promo material saw Art the Clown stepping into the role of Santa, and promised that Terrifier 3 will join the iconic ranks of the Christmas slasher.
Now, creator Damien Leone and star Lauren LaVera have given a much more detailed idea of what to expect. According to Leone, the third chapter is now in pre-production with filming set to begin in February. The director promises a direct sequel, with plenty of bloodshed afoot.
“This one is going to pick up where Part 2 left off, in the insane asylum, so, you’re going to see what transpires there, what mayhem unfolds, because seeing how Art and Victoria ended up, is so insane, and seeing how they get out of that situation and what happens next is going to be really wild.”
Leone also teased some “major characters” being introduced in the third instalment, and whilst remaining coy on most of them, the creator did confirm that wrestler Chris Jericho would join the main cast, following a cameo in Terrifier 2.
By the same token, Leone was quick to assure fans that Terrifier 2 leads Lauren LaVera and Elliott Fullam would return. Alongside them regular cast members David Howard Thornton and Samantha Scaffidi will reprise their roles.
Of her character Sienna being embrace by the horror community for her final girl smarts, LaVera said the following:
“Even being called a ‘Final Girl’ is such an honor to me. I think it’s pretty badass. I mean that’s just me. I know certain people might have different opinions about that title but I think it’s pretty cool. I love horror. I’ve always been a horror enthusiast, and I love women in horror. I think they’re some of the most complex, interesting, layered characters, and that is true tenfold for Sienna, in my opinion.
Terrifier 3 will release on October 25th 2024, being the first movie in the series to have a wide theatrical release and a sizeable budget. We can’t wait to see how much more carnage this financial upgrade will bring.
