It’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year… However, Christmas 2024 will be a very bloody affair by the looks of it, because Art the Clown is back!
Terrifier 2 was re-released to theatres on November 1st, and something very special was attached to the screenings in the form of the first teaser for Terrifier 3.
Although it had previously been gleaned that the third instalment would take place at Christmas, via a leaked teaser poster, what the clip reveals has gotten fans very excited.
Beginning with a shot of snow falling, the clip then slowly zooms out from a window before slowly tracking in on a sleeping child. As the child stirs at noises from downstairs, the young boy makes his way towards the shuffling. Descending the stairs into a living room full of festive decorations, we witness white gloved hands placing presents beneath the Christmas tree. As the child draws closer, the audience is let in on the fact that “Santa” is in fact Art the Clown. Giving his familiar, demented smile, he reveals himself to the young boy before a title slashes across the screen. In a post-title moment, we see a bloodied Art helping himself to the milk and cookies that had been left for Santa Claus.
Oh, what a time to be alive, just as Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving is about to release, closely followed by It’s a Wonderful Knife, now we learn that Terrifier 3 will also haunt the holidays! Holiday horror is officially back.
Whilst exact plot details remain unknown, we do know Terrifier 3 will further examine the supernatural elements introduced in the sequel, and look further into Art’s origins. Sequel cast members Lauren LaVera and Elliot Fullam will return, along with franchise staples Samantha Scaffidi and David Howard Thornton. According to writer-director Damien Leone, principal photography wrapped in September.
Currently, Terrifier 3 is expected to release October 25th 2024, with Cineverse providing the first wide theatrical release of the series. A fourth film is also expected to follow soon after.
