So, it was never confirmed to be an extra-terrestrial event, but the freaky incident in Phoenix, Arizona in 1997 was never confirmed not to be. Later known as The Phoenix Lights, the phenomenon saw mysterious lights appear in the sky with no explanation during two separate occasions. The first was apparently explained by the United Air Force who identified the lights as flares dropped by A-10 Warthog aircraft, but a v-shaped light formation that also appeared was never explained. Weird.
In the upcoming Phoenix Forgotten, a group of students go missing after travelling to the area soon after the incident. 20 years later and lead by a documentary film-maker, Sarah Bishop, a new group of students venture to the area and are overwhelmed by what they discover.
Check out the trailer below. It looks unavoidably Blair Witch-y with its found-footage aesthetic and the dramatic unravelling of unseen events, but we hope that Phoenix Forgotten can offer some fresh extra-terrestrial scares when it is released in theatres on 21st April 2017.
Phoenix Forgotten is directed by Justin Barber and stars Luke Roberts, Chelsea Lopez, Justin Matthews and Florence Hartigan.
