Following his acclaimed horror hits Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, director Fede Alvarez is tackling a literary adaptation with The Girl in the Spider’s Web. The novel, by David Lagercrantz, follows the late Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy which began with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. We already know that The Crown’s Claire Foy has been cast as our new Lisbeth Salander, and the cast has now grown by one, with Sylvia Hoeks having signed up.
Hoeks – who recently played Luv in Blade Runner 2049 (pictured top) – will reportedly be playing Lisbeth’s evil twin in the film, which is scheduled for release on October 19th, 2018.
In the film:
“Young computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist find themselves caught in a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt government officials.”
David Fincher – who helmed 2011’s English language adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – is executive producing the film, which Alvarez also co-wrote with Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Locke) and Jay Basu (Monsters: Dark Continent). Expect more casting news soon.
