Syfy has set a release date for the 13-episode series Blood Drive from creator James Roland, who has worked on shows including Lovespring International and Weeds. The series will be set in a post-apocalyptic world and will follow an ex-cop who is forced to take part in a death race where the cars are fuelled by human blood.
When speaking about the upcoming series, the President of Syfy and Chiller said:
“This highly stylised roller coaster ride is a throwback to 1970s grindhouse cinema. With its fast-paced thrills and indie feel, Blood Drive will make an exciting and edgy addition to Syfy’s growing slate of original scripted series.”
Blood Drive’s episodes will be directed by David Straiton, Meera Menon, Lin Oeding, Roel Reine, James Roday and Gregg Simon, who have collectively worked on Hell on Wheels – sounds fitting – The Originals, Hemlock Grove, Grimm, Chicago P.D., Psych and Rosewood. There’s a whole heap of TV talent working on the show, so let’s hope it can be another boundary-pushing and binge-worthy series for us to get our teeth into.
Blood Drive will premiere on 14th June on Syfy.
