Syfy Orders 13 Episodes of Supernatural Series ‘Superstition’

Posted on: December 8th, 2016

Syfy has ordered 13 episodes of the supernatural series Superstition which is set to begin production at the beginning of 2017 and air later in the year. The series sounds fascinating and creepy with the official synopsis as follows:
The series centres around the Mosley family, owners of the only funeral home in a fictitious town on the outskirts of New Orleans and keepers of the town’s dark secrets and history. Known for its haunted houses, elevated graveyards, odd townsfolk, and rich history of unusual phenomena, the town is also a “landing patch” for the world’s darkest manifestations of fear, guided into the world by an ancient, mysterious malefactor named The Dredge.

There is always room for more horror series’ in our opinion and with the audience figures dropping for The Walking Dead, perhaps zombie fans should set their sights on something more supernatural. The show has been inspired by hit horror shows like Stranger Things, American Horror Story and True Blood. Superstition’s vague and intriguing description of dark manifestations certainly leaves a lot to the imagination, so here’s to hoping the show delivers creative and genuinely terrifying creatures, ghouls, spectres and ghostly beings.

Produced by XLrator, the company’s CEO Barry Gordon has described the series as “Boundary-pushing […] rich in supernatural lore and myths, featuring an eccentric family who have an unusual connection to an otherworldly plane, and the dark force that unleashes the demons, creatures and monsters that haunt our nightmares”.

Some of the show’s episodes will be written and directed by Mario Van Peebles, whose name you may recognise from directing TV series’ like Bones and Empire. He will also star in some of the episodes and has previously had roles in Multiple Sarcasms, Tied to a Chair and Red Sky.

Keep your eyes peeled for Superstition in 2017; which is only around the corner now! Where has this year gone?
