Well, it looked like it was never going to happen, but over the weekend it was reported that BLOOM have picked up the international rights to The Strangers 2, ahead of a scheduled summer shoot.
By the time of the film’s release, it will have been ten years since a murderous, masked trio tormented and killed Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman’s less-than-happy couple in Bryan Bertino’s hit home-invasion shocker. And ever since the killers promised each other that it would be “easier next time,” we have been waiting on a follow-up.
The script has been penned by Bertino (who also wrote the 2008 original) and Ben Ketai (The Forest), with The Other Side of the Door/47 Meters Down helmer Johannes Roberts locked in to direct.
The Strangers 2 ‘follows a family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and after the power goes out they decide to hunker down for the night in a borrowed trailer. Under the cover of darkness three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit.’
Casting on the film is currently underway. BLOOM will handle international sales at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.
