STRANGER THINGS: FLIGHT OF ICARUS PREQUEL NOVEL ANNOUNCED, TO FOCUS ON EDDIE MUNSON

Posted on: April 20th, 2023

Stranger Things fans the world over fell in love with Season 4 newcomer Eddie Munson following the season’s premiere. The metal-loving D&D nerd was praised for injecting new life and a cooky sense of humour into the show, and made an immediate sensation of actor Joseph Quinn.

Given the universal love and praise for the character, the was a collective outcry when the character heroically sacrificed himself for the good of mankind during the season finale. If previous seasons are anything to go by, we know death doesn’t always mean a character’s end on Stranger Things, but as it stands, fans are demanding more Eddie Munson.

It looks like they’re about to get their wish with the announcement of a spin-off novel, focusing solely on the origins of Eddie Munson. Flight of Icarus is set two years before the events of Season 4, seeing Eddie struggle to make a demo tape as he seeks to propel his band, Corroded Coffin, to the big-time.

After meeting a record producer at a local bar, the teen is forced to undertake “shady” dealings with his father Al in order to make enough money to record the demo.

Written by Stranger Things Season 5 scribe Caitlin Schneiderhan, Flight of Icarus will release on October 31 2023, giving fans their Stranger Things fix as they await season 5 next year.

Although the initial series will conclude with its fifth season, Flight of Icarus, as well as the recently announced animated Stranger Things spin-off, prove there’s still plenty of life in the franchise yet.
