When Stranger Things added Robert Englund to Season 4, horror fans thought the show couldn’t get any more awesome. But hold on to your hats, viewers, as news reaches us this week that Terminator star Linda Hamilton will be joining Stranger Things 5!
Yes, that’s right, Sarah Connor will be traversing The Upside Down in the final season of one of Netflix’s most popular shows. The announcement was confirmed by Netflix themselves, who posted a photo to Twitter of a smiling Hamilton, but upside down, of course.
The casting continues a career renaissance for Hamilton following her return to major roles with 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. Acting as a direct sequel to 1991’s Terminator 2, the film saw Hamilton’s Sarah Connor as a longtime Terminator hunter forced into another battle to save mankind.
Although the film was critically and commercially unsuccessful, it renewed interest in Hamilton’s career after a long hiatus. The actress has been working steadily since, with this announcement being her biggest role to date.
Stranger Things 5 is currently in its very own “upside down,” as production has been suspended due to the ongoing Writer’s Guild of America strike. This means that a definitive premiere date is unknown, with some sources claiming that Netflix may push the show to 2025.
With everything so up in the air, it is unknown what role Hamilton will play in the series, but as per Netflix themselves, we know it will be a “starring” part.
We will stay on the lookout for any further updates as we hope for a resolution to the strike action.
