Well, this is quite unexpected. Netflix dropped the trailer for the next film in the franchise for Cloverfield during the Superbowl and the film can be watched right now. In fact, I’m pretty sure a lot of you have watched it already. What did you think?
If this is all news for you, then check out the 30-second teaser trailer below and see that root cause of Cloverfield’s monsters lies in the future. Crazy! It’s Cloverfield in space as a group of scientists who are trying to solve an energy crisis, discover something terrible that leads to them to tell whoever is listening to stop what they’re doing. We’re listening!
Although many people have a love-hate relationship with Netflix; love the ease of accessibility to hours of content, but hate that films aren’t getting the theatrical treatment, I love it. Netflix is not stopping films from being released, but saving those that would never see the light of day. We should be celebrating the streaming service, not shunning it. It’s better to see a film on the small screen, than not see it at all.
The Cloverfield Paradox has been directed by Julius Onah (The Girl is in Trouble) and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo and Daniel Bruhl. Be sure to check the film out now on Netflix.
