Starz has acquired the rights to the Norwegian thriller series Monster, which follows a local policewoman and a special investigator as they try to crack a years-old case when a mass grave is uncovered.
With shows like The Bridge, Borgen and Trapped, Scandi-noir has been enjoyed by audiences for quite a while now and its appeal is showing no signs of declining. Netflix already has a heap of Scandi-noir on its service, so it’s no surprise to see Starz nabbing Monster. The platform already broadcasts hit shows like Power, so it’s fast becoming a streaming service contender.
Monster will be produced by NRK Drama and the series is set to air in Scandinavia this October. Keep your eyes out for a release a little bit closer to home.
